Casting call-out for Caryl Churchill’s,
The After-Dinner Joke

With lockdown extended into 2021 we are now seeking 50 exceptional actors to perform in the eagerly anticipated online premiere of Caryl Churchill’s sharp satire The After-Dinner Joke.

Actors can be of any age, gender or ethnicity but must have graduated from a drama school or from a university drama course in the UK in the past 3 years.

This opportunity is unpaid but participants will gain access to a one-to-one self-tape masterclass with artistic director James Haddrell and their work will be showcased to audiences and industry professionals around the world.

This is the latest ambitious venture to emerge from our online programme Greenwich Connects, launched in 2020 during the first lockdown, and follows our high-profile online premiere of Steven Berkoff’s The Secret Love Life Of Ophelia (“will help open doors for the next generation” The Times).

To be considered, send a 1 minute self-tape of a contemporary speech from a published play to j.haddrell@greenwichtheatre.org.uk with the subject “After-Dinner Joke” as soon as possible. The finished production will feature over 60 scenes of varying styles and lengths, spoken and unspoken. All master classes will take place between 27 January and 17 February, and all pieces will be filmed by actors in their own homes to ensure a fully COVID-safe, lockdown production.

All self-tapes must be submitted by 10pm, Friday 29 January. Good luck!
