Ever Yours

She stole Van Gogh. Now what?

Inspired by the real smash and grab theft of a Van Gogh painting in 2020, Ever Yours is a play about who and what we are left with after the death of a loved one.

Queer love, grief, laughing at funerals and crying at birthday parties; Olivia is alone. Her only companion is a painting she stole in a desperate demonstration of love for her late partner. But the painting comes with a surprise! The ghost of the man who painted it – Vincent van Gogh. As she does her best to hide the stolen art from a suspecting curator, her girlfriend’s family pressures her to hide the true nature of their relationship. Oh! and there’s a bird trapped in the flat. What else can she do but throw Vince a party?

Written by Alex Wanebo and directed by Carson McCalley, Ever Yours is a riotous and surreal comedy that confronts the complexity of grief in the closet.
