Sherlock Holmes and The Man Who Believed in Fairies

When Sherlock Holmes abandons his retirement to pursue further cases, he encounters his deadliest enemy yet. This is the man who engineered Moriarty’s attack on him at the Reichenbach Falls: a flawed genius called Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Despite their names being inextricably linked, they are complete opposites, and their mutual enmity explodes over a celebrated case. When two girls claim to have photographed fairies, Doyle eagerly champions their cause, much to the disgust of the strictly rationalist Holmes. Then, when a scathing cartoon in Punch magazine shackles Holmes to Doyle and his belief in fairies, it galvanises Holmes to act. He sets about discrediting this subject so dear to Doyle’s heart in an ingenious manner. The case of the Cottingley fairy photographs brings the two men face to face in a story of unwavering faith versus cool logic.
