New work. Every Tuesday.
In a climate where venues are playing it safe and shrinking risk, we’re doing the opposite.
From April 2026, our Studio becomes home to a weekly platform for new ideas, early drafts, rehearsed readings, works-in-progress and premieres. By making it regular, affordable and under one programme we lower the financial risk for artists and create real space to experiment. It will include;

12 MAY - SOLDIER STREET (Rehearsed Reading) -
Southend. Easter Sunday. The Allman Family Home.
To the outside world, The Allmans seem like any normal 'Soldier Street' Family. There's a local business in the family name, they have generations of men who have fought for the British Army, and they're regulars at Church. As a result, they are well-respected within their community. However, as is often the case, the Allmans are not so 'normal' at all.
Relationships are tested in this politically charged family drama that forces us to question the morality of tradition and patriotism, and just how far people might go to protect it.
Presented by the McCreadie Company
Directed by Hannah McLeod

19 MAY - Today, Again (Work in Progress) -
What if you could buy more time?
Best friends Gabi and Fiona impulsively purchase a Time Machine that can send them back to any moment within the last 24 hours.
At first, the device becomes a shared escape. But after countless resets, cracks begin to form. Their conflict erupts into an argument that breaks the Time Machine, and in the aftermath, the loop collapses. At its heart, the play explores friendship, fear of change, the lure of nostalgia, and the courage it takes to let tomorrow finally arrive...

26 MAY - Behold the Sea (Work in Progress) -
Strange things happen by the sea. Open yourself to it, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Compton Bay. The Isle of Wight. A place where time appears to stand still. Lucy and her friends arrive for the weekend – they drink, play music and dabble in some magic, all in the hopes of escaping a world they are becoming increasingly disenchanted with. But underneath all the fun and nostalgia, an unexpected opportunity begins to surface, one that could change their lives. Forever. Rooted in the rich folklore of Britain and Ireland, Behold The Sea (For She is Calling) is a new myth for the modern world. If you could change it all, would you?

16 JUNE - Black Beth (Work in Progress) -
Black Beth was originally written to explore the unspoken dynamics of the workplace. The rehearsal room becomes a space to examine big ideas around race, authorship, and office culture, where the past is ever-present on stage.
At its core, Black Beth is a meta-theatrical play set in an arts space, where a group of actors are developing a piece about slavery. As rehearsals unfold, the focus shifts from the play they are making to the relationships, tensions, and power structures embedded within the room itself, both fixed by hierarchy and constantly shifting in real time.
What emerges is a blend of naturalistic drama and farce, where the line between comedy and tragedy is blurred, often tipping into the absurd.

23 JUNE - That's Ace (Preview) -
Ace, a lifelong Doctor Who fan, has always led a rather sheltered life but tonight, everything changes. Her school crush, Sasha, has invited her out to a nightclub.
Sadly, Ace has never been clubbing before, so she arrives 15 minutes before the club. On time is late, after all. As the club slowly fills with people, Ace has to wait in this hostile new environment for Sasha to arrive. All the while she tries to determine whether her feelings for Sasha are romantic or platonic and discovers how prominent the focus on sex in society really is.
Is it love? Is it friendaship? What’s the difference?
That’s Ace explores asexuality, attraction and the feeling of living outside of societal norms.
30 JUNE - Marital Bed (Rehearsed Reading) -
When a harassed and exhausted mother (and zoologist in a previous life) is tempted by a galvanising opportunity to return to the lab, she suggests outsourcing her partner’s sexual needs to a stranger, and smashes open a pandora’s box of long-buried truths and uncomfortable revelations as she wrestles with how to get more satisfaction in her life without hurting her husband’s feelings... Marital Bed is a story about pornography, desire and laundry, an extract from the play was runner-up for Comedy Writing at the Funny Women awards in 2023.
